In taking the Australian Guineas, Dash For Cash continued to establish himself near the top of the three-year-old tree. We didn't know it just then but the ranks at the top would soon be thinned by retirement of Viking Ruler and Viscount, the attrition rate maintained when a virus outed the gifted Lonhro. Dash for Cash added to the Gr.1 total of Scott Seamer in holding out the also talented Royal Code with Ustinov completing something of a circle in running third. From Let's Elope, he is by Seeking the Gold, the Mr. Prospector son gaining his first southern Gr.1 winner when Secret Savings won the 1997 Doncaster.

Secret Savings was purchased by His Excellency Nassar Lootah to stand at his Emirates Park, NSW, where he has completed five seasons, Dash For Cash is from his first crop. Rick Hore-Lacy found the colt who would became the first grey Australian Guineas winner in the Gold Coast Emirates draft and spent $75,000 to secure him. In the 17th Guineas the colt was given the perfect trip but was no less impressive for that. Royal Code appeared to have every chance but cannot have lost any admirers. All Courage had to be used up from a wide gate. Pure Theatre also weakened after being a surprise leader. Hore-Lacy won the 1993 edition with the Yallambee resident Kenny's Best Pal.
