THE sprinting find of the Autumn, Yell continued on his winning way in the Futurity Stakes. He trailed the favourite Choisir until entering the straight and dashed clear in the straight to score a big 3-1/4 lengths win over the good filly Innovation Girl

Choisir who had a spectacular victory in the Lightning Stakes at his previous start, compounded when challenged and finished a poor seventh. The talented filly Innovation Girl was always handy, moved up to challenge but had no answer to Yell's brilliance. Later it was announed that she had pulled up sore and had run her last race.

Two other three-year-olds, La Bella Dame and Titanic Jack finished on well, with outsider Roman Arch claiming third place from the former right on the line.

Traditionally a "good horses" race, the Futurity has been a happy hunting ground for three-year-olds in recent years, Yell's victory being the sixth winner in the last seven seasons, others including Dash for Cash, Testa Rossa, Enounter, Mouawad and the dead heaters Mr Murphy and Desert Sky.
