THERE were some huge runs in the C F Orr Stakes-Gr.1. This weight-for-age sprint saw a great pressure ride from Darren Gauci on the talented Yell, who scored his third win in succession and is certainly the "find" among the three-year-olds of the autumn. Yell had the sit on the pacemaker Innovation Girl, niggled away at her down the straight and managed to get the upper hand over the filly 100 metres out. Fields of Omagh was second last early. He started to make his move before the turn, and finished brilliantly to just tip Innovation Girl out of second place.

Fans of Northerly would have been thrilled with his run. Last till the turn, jockey Payne pulled the gelding out wide. He took some time to get set and then catapulted down the outside to run a slashing fourth. The official time for the final 600m of the 1400m was 34.47, so Northerly's effort was exceptional.
