SHOW a Heart was the eventual winner upon the disqualification of Skalato on November 20 - 37 days after the race. The Guineas result was overturned in the wake of a positive swab to ketoprofen, taken from Skalato after his win on October 14. At the nine and half hour inquiry, Clarry Conners was fined $12,000 and his son Heath, who heads the Flemington stables, $4000. The ruling result was appealed by Conners and the owners of Skalato, Geoff Peters, Ken King, Dr Peter Morley and Ron Tandberg. Eventually held on February 13, the appeals were denied.
The overturned result provided the second Gr.1 success for Show a Heart. In the Guineas, the son of Brave Warrior was very brave to beat all but Skalato, the latter favoured by the inside section, Show a Heart was trapped wide near the lead from barrier 13. Fubu rattled home to finish third behind the first two colts, both bred at and got by sires at Eureka Stud. It also saw the Star Kingdom line 1-2 broken by the disqualification of the son of Nodouble horse Semipalatinsk. Sale of the Century, who also made up a lot of ground late, belatedly found himself in the placings. Show a Heart was bred by Gatton breeders Ross and Judy Cutts who race the colt with their family. Like his dam, the winner is prepared at Hendra by Barry Miller.
